Today, I had the pleasure of instructing female executives at a special clinic hosted by Booz Allen Hamilton.
Heather Young, a veteran player on the LPGA Tour, was the headliner and offered an instructive and entertaining talk during lunch. The 1997 NCAA individual champion at the University of Texas, Heather earned her LPGA card in 1999 and played by her maiden name of Bowie until her marriage in 2006. She captured the 2005 Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic and has won over $2.75 Million in her career. Heather is very modest and has a true knack for connecting with her audience is an unassuming way.
In its fourth year, the clinic is championed by Natalie Givans, a talented senior vice president at Booz Allen. A top consulting firm headquartered outside of Washington, D.C., Booz Allen recognizes the values of business golf. Through the clinic and other golf programs, the company is empowering its female executives to learn golf and use the game as a networking tool to further business relationships.
River Bend Golf & Country Club, a wonderful facility in Northern Virginia, was the site of the event. Head PGA Professional John Madden and his assistant Trish Gates, also a member of the PGA, did a super job in organizing all of the golf instruction.
Does your organzation sponsor a golf clinic or tournament? If so, what is the purpose of the event: reward employees, entertain customers, or benefit a charity? Please take a minute, and leave a comment.
Until next time, enjoy golf, America!
