Fireworks in the Air and on the Golf Course

Charlie finishing his swing

For our Independence Day celebration, Charlie and I played golf before joining Donna for a special cookout and fireworks.

Last month, I wrote about Charlie’s newfound interest in baseball and how skills in other sports can benefit your golf game. In baseball, Charlie has quickly learned how to field, throw, and hit by watching the Washington Nationals and other Major League players. Especially in hitting, he is mimicking the big cuts of hitters like Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn.

During our time of the golf course, I noticed how Charlie is naturally taking a wider stance and much bigger swing with his driver. As he swung for the fences, he made a natural swing and hit the ball 125 yards!

In today’s power game, the ability to hit a long ball is critical, and I hope Charlie will continue to learn how to hit for power, knowing that he will be able to master control later.

By the way, the fireworks after dinner — set to music and fired over the driving range — were absolutely spectacular. Happy 4th of July!
