This week, Tiger Woods plays host at the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland for the third straight year.
Unfortunately, I will not be joining him. Over the past couple of years, I have represented Buick and performed golf exhibitions and demonstrations at its Buick Clubhouse. At Congressional, the promotion was located just inside the main spectator entrance and was a real favorite where fans could receive a swing tip and a photograph with a digital “Tiger Woods.”
With the General Motors bankruptcy, the Buick Clubhouse has been shelved. GM has also canceled a longstanding deal of providing player courtesy cars at tournaments as well as a majority of the company’s other golf marketing efforts. For now, the company is continuing its title sponsorship of the Buick Open and the Buick Invitational on the PGA Tour.
Of course, with a sponsor exemption, I could actually join Tiger inside the ropes and fulfill a dream.
Until next time, enjoy golf, America!
